2022: By the Numbers

Dubuque Trees Forever plants trees in our community while connecting with organizations and residents to increase knowledge and understanding about the benefits trees provide.
In 2022, we received our 501c3 status, grew our volunteer base, increased the number of partner organizations, strengthened relationships with corporate partners, and secured funding from a variety of sources to support our work.

2022: By the Numbers is presented below as a high level overview of this year’s achievements.

  • 510 volunteer hours

+39 hours non-planting time (meetings and events)

+475 planting and tree care hours

    =510 Total volunteer hours

  • 4 Repeat Business Teams

Several businesses had repeat involvement with teams including Dupaco, Q Casino, Diamond Jo, John Deere. We also achieved approval to be part of John Deere's Benevity program for matching grants and volunteer hour payments.

  • 262 Volunteers

262 volunteers joined us to plant trees in Dubuque in 2022. Some of these volunteers helped out on more than one occasion, which, to us, is a sign that they had a good experience and want to support our work. We also had many first-time planters that are now trained and ready to help in the future. Together we are building a large group of experienced volunteers to make each project even better.

  • 4 Youth Teams

3 troops of Girl Scouts achieved their Tree Promise badge by volunteering at our tree planting events.

High School honor society students joined us for planting events and earned service hours toward their awards.

  • 174 Trees

We planted 174 trees throughout the community including:

    • Jackson Street

    • Allison Henderson Park

    • Digital Drive

    • Chaplain Schmitt Island

    • Homes receiving Sustainable Dubuque Tree Grant Funds
